- Abstract
- Neutrinos are increasingly important in the field of multi-messenger astronomy. One of the detectors used to detect these particles is IceCube. The Local Coincidence pre-trigger is the first filter applied to reduce the data rate, noise, and background in IceCube. In this work, a new Local Coincidence pre-trigger has been developed for the IceCube Upgrade, which is planned for the austral summer of 2026. The goal is to limit the data rate to 3 MHz, using recent simulations for the Upgrade. A comprehensive analysis of these simulations was conducted, leading to the proposal of several pre-trigger options. The results were analyzed based on various criteria, including the energy levels and types of neutrinos. Ultimately, two conditions were identified as optimal for the Upgrade, achieving high efficiency.
