Abstract
As part of UCLouvain's bioengineering program, hands-on learning about plant physiological phenomena is essential but remains limited by material, logistical, and financial constraints. This thesis is a continuation of the PhenoHive project [1, 2], a compact, intuitive, and low-cost plant phenotyping station, initially developed to provide each group of students with a personal plant observation tool. This work presents the improvement of the existing station by addressing both hardware and software aspects. The main contributions include the integration of new sensors (humidity, light), the optimization of image capture and growth analysis via PlantCV, online export of the database already implemented with InfluxDB and Grafana in the previous works [1, 2], and the improvement of the user-friendliness of the interface and the physical design. The results show that it is possible to provide students with a robust, scalable, and cost-effective tool that promotes autonomy and engagement in learning plant phenotyping.
