- This thesis addresses challenges in Belgium's equestrian industry, emphasizing technological integration, sustainability, and equine welfare. Many existing stables suffer from high costs, outdated facilities, poor comfort, and significant environmental impacts. To address these issues, the research proposes innovative stable designs integrating automated feeding, cleaning systems, smart ventilation, horse walker systems, and digital barn management solutions. Equine welfare is prioritized through health-monitoring technologies, individualized feeding regimens, and paradise paddocks with diverse terrains. Sustainability is achieved by incorporating circular practices, particularly manure recycling and eco-friendly construction materials. Financial analyses comparing traditional, automated, ecological, and horse welfare-oriented models highlight economic feasibility and improved operational efficiency. This modern approach reduces costs, enhances horse wellbeing, and minimizes environmental impact, setting new standards for the industry.
