Abstract
This master thesis analyses three different benchmarking methods used in different countries for the regulation of electricity distribution system operators (DSO's) designed to promote efficient energy network markets. The three methods we will focus on are (i) the data envelopment analysis (DEA), (ii) stochastic frontier analysis (SFA) and (iii) stochastic non-parametric envelopment of data (StoNED). The goal of this master thesis will be to implement the routines in R allowing the StoNED model to be computed and compare it to the two other models.
