Víctimas de la guerra o víctimas de la prensa: Análisis del discurso de El País acerca de las víctimas del conflicto israelí-palestino iniciado el 7 de octubre de 2023

- In the light of this thesis, the linguistic and discursive elements of the Spanish media El País are identified as the media deals with the latest Israeli-Palestinian conflict, begun the 7th of October of 2023. This study is founded on discourse analysis, more precisely in the multiple ways to represent the victims of the conflict in a corpus of articles according to the methodology of van Leeuwen (1996). For this reason, each occurrence of victims has been annotated in the discourse according to the categories of representation and their nationality in a corpus of articles published during the first week and the same week, a year later after the beginning of the conflict. The scrutinized victims are the Israeli victims, the Palestinian o Gazan ones, and the international ones. Considering these parameters, differences of treatment between victims are highlighted by their nationality or ethnicity, as well as by the publishing year of the articles. They are represented in degrees of personalization according to the parameters, together with the professional practices of El País and societal elements within the Spanish environment.
