Abstract
The implementation of circular economy (CE) practices in the wine sector presents unique challenges and opportunities for sustainability. This thesis investigates the primary barriers to adopting CE principles in the wine industry and examines how overcoming these obstacles can contribute to a more sustainable industry. Drawing on a comprehensive literature review, the study identifies key theoretical frameworks and categorizes barriers into various groups. An empirical analysis is conducted through a survey targeting wine industry professionals, designed to capture their perceptions and experiences related to CE practices. The results reveal that the transition to CE in this sector is progressing compared to other industries. However, significant barriers, including lack of expertise, difficulties in accessing finance, and unclear benefits, prevent the industry from fully embracing CE. Statistical analyses highlight the most pressing issues and suggest correlations between these barriers and the industry's reluctance to fully implement CE practices.
