- Abstract
- The growing computational power of GPUs over the past three decades, combined with the stagnation of single-core CPU performance, has led mechanical engineering to leverage GPUs for complex simulations. This shift has significantly expanded the range of problems that can be solved within a reasonable timeframe. Non-Smooth Contact Dynamics (NSCD) is a numerical method for simulation of numerous rigid bodies with contacts, such as granular materials. This thesis presents an implementation of a multi-circular simulation approach using a Jacobi solver, enabling the simulation of complex shapes with NSCD on GPUs. Several implementations are presented and compared in terms of precision, convergence, and performance.
