Abstract

enThis thesis is an experimental work aiming at studying the transversal forces on the convoys during the filling in degraded mode of an aqueduct-larron lock (assorted with longitudinal culvert with side ports). Indeed, transverse mooring forces appear on the boats when filling in degraded mode. This study follows the incident of July 13, 2016 on the 4th lock of Lanaye during a filling operation in degraded mode due to far too large efforts and barges not respecting the recommendations of moorings issued by the Public Service of Wallonia. During the measurement campaign carried out on the Lanaye site, the efforts measured in degraded mode were 8 times greater than the admissible value. This thesis is in line with the thesis of El Oumari and Lenaerts (2019) and was carried out on a scale model.
