Abstract
In the 12th and 13th centuries, numerous philosophical and scientific works were translated from Arabic into Latin, particularly in Toledo. Among these texts are writings on alchemy, a discipline still largely unfamiliar to Western scholars, most notably the Kitāb al-Sabʿīn, which was translated into Latin as the Liber de septuaginta. This Latin version, which gained some recognition, holds significant value for the study of the transmission of alchemical knowledge from the Arab-Muslim world to the Latin West. However, it remains unpublished to this day. In this thesis, we present a critical edition and translation of the Liber diuinitatis, the first treatise of the Septuaginta. Our introduction to the edition also includes a detailed description of the manuscripts examined, with a particular focus on their contents.
