Abstract
The thesis entitled "Tweedetaalverwerving van adjectivale samenstellingen door Franstalige leerders (CLIL en niet-CLIL)" focuses on the acquisition of adjectival compounds in Dutch by French-speaking learners. The study focuses on a comparison between students following an immersive learning programme (CLIL) and those benefiting from traditional teaching (non-CLIL). The theoretical framework of constructional grammar is used to analyse how these learners assimilate and use these complex grammatical structures. The central objective is to determine to what extent French-speaking learners master adjectival compounds in Dutch and how the learning context (CLIL versus non-CLIL) influences this proficiency. To this end, a mixed methodology is employed, combining qualitative and quantitative analysis. The data come from the MulTINCo corpus, which is used to evaluate the frequency and structure of adjectival compounds in learners' written productions. The results are then compared according to the type of programme followed by the students. This approach sheds light not only on the effectiveness of teaching methods in developing complex linguistic skills, but also on the specific features of the acquisition of Dutch as a second language.
