- Abstract
- The objective of this thesis is to provide the reader with a comprehensive description of one of the main limitations of the fifth generation of mobile networks. Especially, scenarios in which the geometry around the user is quickly evolving over time are described. A mathematical model of these channel scenarios is provided along with its implication on the OFDM modulation which is used in 5G. To overcome the limitations of OFDM, a new modulation technique called OTFS has been recently proposed in the literature. A framework in which both OFDM and OTFS are easily described with well-know telecommunication tools is presented. In this framework, the equations of this new modulation are derived from scratch. Then, a new equalization technique for OTFS is provided. Finally, OTFS performance in terms of bit error rate is assessed and compared with OFDM and its variant, the CP-SC modulation.
