- Abstract
- This study investigated the interconnectedness of empathy, creativity, intersectionality of identity, prosociality, and social dominance orientation (SDO). The findings indicated (1) that empathy and creativity predict one another, (2) some significant mean differences in empathy were reported as function of intersectionality of identity and SES, and (3) contrary to expectations individual beliefs (prosociality and SDO) did not mediate the relationship between empathy and creativity. Creativity was assessed through two tasks and one self-assessment, while empathy and individual beliefs were evaluated solely through self-assessments. Both creative tasks were found to be quite unreliable. The sample consisted of 322 participants with diverse gender, sexual orientation, cultural and SES backgrounds.
