- Abstract
- Breast cancer is among the most diagnosed cancers in women. It is often associated with obesity, defined as a BMI > 30. Both are chronic diseases that can be influenced by many factors such as genetic factors, leptin, etc. In addition, many studies have been conducted, showing that obesity can be considered as one of the independent risk factors for the development of breast cancer, especially in postmenopausal women. Preventive measures can be useful to avoid the occurrence of breast cancer and obesity. Recently, it has been shown that metformin and NSAIDs may be encouraging therapeutic approaches for breast cancer that develops in the context of adiposity. Melatonin may have some benefit when combined with tamoxifen and TSH in reducing the risk of breast cancer.
