Abstract
enIn French-speaking Belgium, several training programs in French-LSFB interpreting existed prior to the establishment of a university-level curriculum, which has since become essential. A bachelor’s program was launched in 2014 at the Institut libre Marie Haps, followed by a master’s program at UCLouvain in 2017. Initially modeled on programs designed for interpreting between two spoken languages, the curriculum has gradually evolved to better reflect the specificities of interpreting between a spoken and a signed language. With this in mind, a new curriculum has been developed and will come into effect in the 2026 – 2027 academic year. This thesis therefore aims to assess the extent to which this new curriculum more effectively meets the needs of professional French – LSFB interpreters.
