Abstract
This research focuses on the development of the magnetic biosensor for point of care application. The objective was to create a sensor based on off the shelf components, low cost, portable and user friendly. The idea was to be able to detect magnetic nanoparticles used as label in paper based sensor using Lateral flow assay technique. This work was more focused on the upcycling of a magnetic head of tape recorder to inte- grating it into a magnetic sensor. The solution proposed is based on a Maxwell bridge used to measure inductances variation of low quality factor. The presence of magnetic nanoparticles causes variation in the inductance value that will be translated into voltage variations at the output of the Maxwell bridge. This system yields several problem, notably a geometric bottleneck due to the very concen- trated flux generated in the gap of the magnetic head. The solution end up to show poor results with a minimum LOD of 257.9μg for magnetite nanoparticles(F e3O4)
