Abstract
The distillation is a very ancient process which consists to separate the components from a liquid mixture by using their difference of volatility. This thesis begins by presentation of the different technical aspects necessary for the installation of a distillation column and the second part deals with the modelling, the control and the analysis of a laboratory column that separates methanol from water. Firstly, the simulation is done with Aspen software which only gives the equilibrium state. After that, two models are developed to obtain the dynamical system of the column. A PI controller with anti-windup is implemented for the second model to control the concentration of methanol at the output of the system. An analysis of the stability, controllability and observability is done based on the linearized system. Finally, several improvements are proposed.
