Abstract
This thesis analyzes the relationship between personality and vocational orientation. Two models are compared: the Enneagram, which is a very deep theory that describes personality, and the RIASEC, which is a model used for vocational orientation. The main references in these theories are Halin, Prémont, Hudson and Holland. The association between these models addresses two questions: -Is there an association between the Enneagram bases and the RIASEC model? -Is there an association between the Enneagram sub-types and the RIASEC model? To explore these associations a questionnaire involving the enneagram bases, sub-types, and RIASEC personality type was created. It was disseminated through social media for the participants to answer the survey. The conclusion is that there is a certain type of relationship between the two models. To start with, an individual’s Enneagram base and RIASEC are related. The Post- Hoc Tukey test results show that the means of each of the RIASEC scale types are statistically different when some Enneagram bases are compared to other bases. Moreover, the Enneagram sub-types and the RIASEC model are associated. The Pearson correlations shows that there are relations between the three instincts and the six RIASEC scales. Future investigations can have several considerations. These includes contemplating misleading variables such as language, and culture, and investigate the relationships with the environment. Furthermore, future research can corroborate the results obtained. Finally, it would be interesting to use a larger sample and explore the relationship between three quantitative variables: the Enneagram bases, sub-types, and RIASEC.
