- Abstract
- Tardive dyskinesia is a side effect found in psychiatric patients treated with antipsychotics. It is particularly disabling and it significantly reduces the patients’ quality of life. There are few effective treatments for this pathology. New molecules could change the game and bring real improvement in patients suffering from this adverse effect. In this thesis, the etiopathogenic hypotheses of tardive dyskinesia will be considered first. This analysis will be followed by an examination of the various treatments which have been used until now and of those which are still being studied. Valbenazine and deutetrabenazine will be particularly explored in the light of encouraging results of studies evaluating their efficacy on tardive dyskinesia. Are they the treatments of tomorrow? That is what will be analyzed in this work.
