- Abstract
- Phytotherapy is a medical discipline that uses plants to relieve various everyday ailments. Although it is widely known and has been practiced for many years, its use is not without risks, particularly for sensitive populations such as pregnant or breastfeeding women. This thesis aims to analyse eleven phytotherapeutic products and the plants they contain, in order to determine whether they are safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. It begins with an overview of the principles of phytotherapy and the main disorders that may affect pregnant or breastfeeding women. Each plant found in the products studied is then examined in detail, followed by a concise conclusion indicating whether its use is recommended in these contexts. Finally, the role of the community pharmacist as an advisor is briefly discussed.
