- The research provides a substantial overview of the literature on crony capitalism under four dimensions: corruption, rent seeking, income inequality, and relationship between public servants and industrial leaders. The goal of the work is to understand crony capitalism from a qualitative and quantitative perspective: I will analyse the impact of trade on corruption, particularly the extent to which the exposure to the global markets benefit a country in terms of reducing corruption. Moreover, I will consolidate the literature on crony capitalism and my findings to generate a new general definition of crony capitalism capable of encompassing each and every dimension characterizing it
