- Abstract
- This thesis focuses on the case study of OHPLA. OHPLA is a low-tech initiative that was set up a few years ago in Belgium to recycle PP and HDPE caps and transform them into everyday objects. This dissertation will involve both technical reflection, through a life cycle analysis (LCA) and an examination of certain mechanical properties of recycled plastics, and philosophical reflection, on the future of our technologies and the way we use them. These Low-Tech recycled plastics were studied via tomography, tribology and micro-hardness. The ultimate aim of this work is to bring a more scientific perspective to the processes, with a view to helping her select and optimize certain recycling parameters. This approach will help OHPLA understand how to recycle these plastics in a more efficient and environmentally friendly way.
