Abstract
This master thesis undertakes an in-depth examination of collaborative bicycle insurance, focusing primarily on the pioneering model presented by Laka. From a methodological point of view, a rigorous path is mapped out, involving meticulous calculations and the construction of portfolios of insureds using uniform and binomial distributions. The master thesis is further enriched by empirical insights from an illuminating interview with GRACQ. As the master thesis progresses, it becomes clear that collaborative insurance presents significant advantages and related challenges. Ethical considerations are omnipresent, juxtaposed with the art of judicious cost management. The crucial importance of well-founded databases is emphasised, while avenues for future research are outlined. In sum, this master thesis is a substantive scholarly contribution, shedding deep light on the potentially transformative role of collaborative bicycle insurance within the broader field of insurance paradigms.
