Abstract
In today's society, the role of media discourse is crucial as it holds a significant position in the dissemination of information and contributes to the shaping of public opinion. Media discourse possesses the power to inform, interpret, and provide meaning to events occurring in our society. Acting as intermediaries between these events and the public, the media carefully select, prioritize, and present information that can potentially impact the way the public perceives reality. Depending on various factors such as the topics covered, chosen perspectives, cited sources, and underlying values, the media can mold the interpretation and understanding of events by the public. This thesis aims to explore the impact of media discourse on the public's perception of reality in contemporary society. It consists of a state of the art and draws on the current state of research to assess the influence of journalistic practices as well as the perspectives conveyed in the discourse on the issue of media impact.
