- Abstract
- The goal of this master’s thesis on audio description is to provide accessibility to a screening of the Brussels Short Film Festival for visually impaired individuals. We have written the scripts for the audio descriptions of five short films in French. Our introduction discusses accessibility and visual impairment in the audiovisual field, as well as the various conventions in Belgium, Europe, and beyond. We also explore the different types of audiovisual accessibility. Next, we explore the topic of audio description, examining the required procedures and established standards. Our methodology highlights the work we’ve completed and the processes we followed. In the end, we discuss the challenges we anticipated and encountered, using our own script for the five short films as examples. We have included two appendices, one with the script of the audio descriptions and the analyses made are available.
