Abstract
This work explores the potential of the circular economy (CE) in Togo and its challenges in an African context. It shows that, although the concept is recent, traditional circular practices have long existed in Africa. The CE appears to be a sustainable solution to the growing environmental and economic challenges. With this in mind, Togo is demonstrating a strong political will and is gradually embarking on this transition, despite still having a limited organizational structure. This work highlights then the need to strengthen infrastructures, the regulatory framework and partnerships to make this transition a success. Based on interviews with stakeholders and a regional comparison, the study highlights the levers for anchoring CE in Togolese public policy. CE thus represents a strategic opportunity for sustainable development, the green economy and Togo's resilience to climate change
