- Background : Preparing injectable chemotherapy requires strict aseptic conditions and precise operational control to ensure patient safety and protect staff from exposure to cytotoxic agents. At the Cliniques Universitaires Saint‑Luc, this process is still performed manually under laminar flow hoods, a method vulnerable to human error and occupational risks. With the number of preparations having doubled between 2001 and 2025, automation has become a promising approach to improve both safety and efficiency. Objectives : This study seeks to map and compare the failure modes of manual and robotic chemotherapy preparation processes through a risk analysis. It also aims to identify key success factors and risk factors that must be considered to ensure the safe implementation of a robotic preparation system at the CUSL.
