Abstract
This study focused on exploring the experience of people with disability on their journey to becoming and being self-employed. The choice was made to work on the effect of disability which is the interaction between the individual health and people view and not only on the impairment as the actual limitation of the person functions. The aim was to find the reasons for choosing entrepreneurship, the barriers faced as entrepreneurs and the facilitators they had. To conduct this study, ten entrepreneurs with a disability got interviewed with semi-structured questionnaire to collect all the necessary data. The main result gotten from the entrepreneurs interviewed is that the disability gets in their way of entering waged employment. Additionally, it was found that their negative experience with waged employment is the first motivator for getting into entrepreneurship.
