- Abstract
- The largest wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in Europe, Seine aval, cannot always meet the European legislation on nitrogen concentration limits in the first hours of heavy rainfall events. This master thesis studies a control strategy to improve the nitrogen removal of the WWTP, using a multi-agent framework. The nitrogen removal of Seine aval has been simulated with MATLAB and a disturbance has been designed to model a heavy rainfall event. Then a network has been designed with the multi-agent framework and controlled with a variation of the consensus algorithm. The aim was to explore the impact of the communications inside the network on the performance of the global nitrogen removal system. The best configuration of the communications has been highlighted and it has been shown that the performance of the system relies particularly on the sharing of information of the system state with the nitrification unit.
