Abstract
This paper explores the European construction industry through the lens of macroeconomics and procurement issues. By shedding light on the relationships between different European economic indicators, producer price indexes of construction materials and the return of European construction-related companies (prime contractors and subcontractors) listed on the stock exchange, some certainties can be drawn from 2003-2023. Vector autoregressive models are optimized through a stepwise backward selection of the developed time series, in order to assess market trends designed to provide better information for contractors in their management and supply chain.
