Abstract
The problems on the road involve everybody’s daily routine. The Belgian road network undergoes much maintenances and renovation works every year. Those works have for result to reduce traffic lanes and trigger congestions. Accordingly, this study attempts to define the resilience of the road network in Belgium in a larger scale of developing a Bridge Management System. Based on a simple model, simulations are carried on to characterize traffic flows within the road network at a normal state of circulation (continuous flows) and disturb by the closing of a portion of a road due to works upon a bridge. By comparing both situations, one can draw the first conclusions and shape the possible starting points for future studies.
