- Abstract
- Edmund Husserl's approach to the phenomenology of animality sheds light on the description of the experiences of non-human animals, on their relationship with humans, and above all on the possibility of encountering them by means of what he called "assimilated empathy". The hypothesis of this paper is to highlight the ethical implications of this phenomenological approach, based on Donna Haraway's animal ethics. It will be shown that the Harawayian theses extend the Husserlian theses, while making Haraway's conception of the encounter between human and non-human animals more explicit.
