- Abstract
- In today’s society, high-protein diets and creatine intake are commonly used by athletes. Even if there are some well-known benefits, their use is quite controversial. One of the most concern about these diets is the potential adverse effects that they may have on kidneys and clinical data are inconsistent on this purpose. High protein and creatine intake may be appropriate for some athletes to enhance their sport abilities but is has become widely accepted to exceed the recommended daily allowance and it is worth considering the negative impact that it may have on several body functions such as renal system.
