- Abstract
- This master thesis studies and compares two linear electric motors in the context of railway propulsion. These two motors are one linear flux-switching permanent-magnet motor and one linear synchronous reluctance motor. In particular, the works investigate phases decoupled and ''short-stator'' geometry. The two motors are studied by means of finite-element method, and their design parameters are optimized by an algorithm in order to maximize the thrust of the motor. The results show, among others, that the flux-switching motor has promising performance.
