Abstract
enThis dissertation examines the evolution of the symbolism of the horse in the Greek world from the Archaic to the Hellenistic period through a varied iconographic corpus. Beyond its utilitarian functions, the horse emerges as a powerful marker of prestige, power, and social identity in both mythological representations and aristocratic practices. This study therefore explores the horse as a visual expression of the values and social hierarchies that shaped ancient Greek societies.
