- Abstract
- This master's thesis examines the news coverage of two quality Belgian newspapers. For the same topic, an issue can be covered in two different ways in the south and in the north of Belgium. To determine whether or not this is the case, an investigation is made into the climate movement that arose in December 2018 and ran until May 2019. During this period, a number of demonstrations were organised, namely by Youth For Climate. As the climate movement was a federal and national movement, this master's thesis seeks to answer the following question: 'Did two quality newspapers, namely De Standaard and Le Soir, cover the climate movement in the same way?'. In order to answer this question, two analyses are carried out: a quantitative study that examines the form of the articles and a qualitative study that analyses the content of the articles.
