Abstract
Osteoarthritis is a common condition affecting the joints. Available drug treatments are exclusively symptomatic. In the later stages of osteoarthritis, joint dysfunctions accompanied by loss of autonomy are observed. The only solution to these problems is arthroplasty which consist in the replacement of the joint with a prosthesis. Unfortunately, this surgery is not without risks and remains expensive. Because of this, there is a constant interest in finding new targets. This master thesis is related to micro ribonucleic acids (microRNAs) as potential targets in osteoarthritis. First, it explains the involvement of microRNAs in the development of the pathology. Second different ways of targeting them and techniques in vivo are developed. Finally, two in vivo experimental studies are analyzed. In order to be able to report on the current situation of microRNAs as therapeutic targets to treat or prevent osteoarthritis.
