Abstract
Morphological evolution of the river bed plays an important role in the modelling of actual problems like dam breaches or shoal formation. This thesis aims to implement a module capable of computing these phenomena in the existing model SLIM. SLIM currently solves the so called shallow water equations by the means of the finite element method on unstructured meshes. The approach used in this thesis is by adding the continuity of sediments in the model. The equation is solved in a decoupled way, which has proven to give good results for slow flood. For fast transient flows however, the coupled way is preferred. The last part of the thesis describes how this second approach could be implemented.
