- Abstract
- For several decades, globalization has led to the internationalization of companies. More and more people are working together in a multilingual and multicultural environment on a daily basis. In 2005, a study conducted for the European Commission revealed that shortages of foreign language skills in enterprise have effects on the European economy. The aim of this thesis was to contribute to the development of support tools, in the form of interactive online modules, to enable Flemish and Walloon SMEs in the agri-food sector to deal with the linguistic and cultural barriers they encounter. This work, carried out within the framework of the European project SIMILAR, is based on the results of multiple research studies, including interviews with companies in the chocolate sector.
