Abstract
This research aims to observe the use of vague language in times of crisis. With the help of a corpus, a quantitative analysis has been conducted. This analysis shows that not all the type of vague language are used in the same proportion, almost all of them are used mostly in news reports covering topics related to COVID-19. A second part of this study consists of interviews with participants. They were asked questions about the use of vague language in news reports. This objective of this qualitative study is to understand the perception of vague language for the readers.
