Abstract
This research seeks to answer the following question: To what extent does the existing EU regulatory framework address the addictive design of social media platforms, and does this framework provide adequate protection for consumers? The analysis will focus on the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive (UCPD), the Digital Services Act (DSA), and the Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act), as these instruments provide the most relevant framework for assessing the regulation of addictive-by-design practices.
