- Abstract
- This thesis analyzes how U.S. and EU trade agreements influenced illicit crop eradication and socioeconomic conditions in Colombia (1990–2019). The U.S. addressed drug trafficking through militarization and trade tools (Plan Colombia, ATPA/ATPDEA, FTA), while the EU emphasized development, human rights, and cooperation (GSP+, Drug Strategy, 2013 Trade Agreement). Results show moderate contributions to GDP growth and wages, but limited effects on poverty and inequality, revealing persistent rural fragility and dependence on commodities.
