Abstract

Dans ce mémoire, nous commencerons par une introduction sur le contexte historique des Pouilles, en retraçant les nombreuses invasions qu’a connues cette région pour comprendre les influences qui ont façonné son identité. Ces influences seront associées au dialecte local, notamment via l’étude d’une poésie en dialecte, afin d’observer si les traces de ces invasions se manifestent dans la langue. En approfondissant ces différents aspects, nous découvrirons comment sont nées les Pouilles. Nous aborderons le symbole emblématique de la région : les trulli, ainsi que la signification des symboles mystérieux qui ornent leurs toits. Nous examinerons la reconnaissance tardive des Pouilles, en étudiant les motifs pour lesquels cette région est restée dans l’ombre pendant si longtemps et en soulignant son évolution récente du point de vue touristique. Par la suite, une traduction de l’italien vers le français sera réalisée provenant du livre « La storia della Puglia in 100 luoghi memorabili » de Stefania Mola. Chaque lieu sélectionné témoigne d’événements historiques marquants, soulignant le lien entre la géographie, les peuples et les civilisations. Parmi ces lieux, nous trouverons : Lesina, Ostuni, les îles Tremiti, Tarente, Egnazia, Canosa et tant d’autres. Après, nous retrouverons les commentaires de traduction divisés en trois parties. La section initiale sera les commentaires généraux concernant le style propre au domaine traduit. La seconde section reprendra les commentaires spécifiques se focalisant sur les éléments de style liés au genre spécifique du texte ou à la signature artistique de l’auteur. La dernière section représentera les commentaires ponctuels se concentrant sur les problèmes de traduction plus spécifiques, mettant en lumière les décisions ou les obstacles spécifiques rencontrés dans certains segments du texte. Enfin, ce mémoire se terminera par une conclusion personnelle.

In this thesis, we will begin with an introduction to the historical context of Puglia, tracing the many invasions that this region has experienced in order to understand the influences that have shaped its identity. These influences will be associated with the local dialect, through the study of poetry in dialect, to observe whether the traces of theses invasions are manifested in the language. By exploring these different aspects in greater depth, we will discover how Puglia was born. We will look at the emblematic symbol of the region: the trulli, and the meaning of the mysterious symbols that adorn their roofs. We will examine the late recognition of Puglia, looking at the reasons why the region remained in the shadows for so long and highlighting its recent development from a tourist perspective. This will be followed by a translation from Italian into French from the book ‘La storia della Puglia in 100 luoghi memorabili’ by Stefania Mola. Each of the places selected bears witness to significant historical events, highlighting the link between geography, peoples and civilisations. Among these places are: Lesina, Ostuni, The Tremiti Islands, Taranto, Egnazia, Canosa and many others. After that, we will find the translation comments, which are divided into three parts. The first section contains general comments on the style specific to the field being translated. The second section will include specific comments focusing on stylistic elements linked to the particular genre of the text or the author’s artistic signature. The last section will represent ad hoc comments focusing on more specific translation problems, highlighting specific decisions or obstacles encountered in certain segments of the text. Finally, this thesis will finish with a personal conclusion.
