Abstract: This thesis covers different aspects regarding the ever so evolving esports industry, with a particular emphasis on how the changes that affect the clubs impact their competitive performance. Changes that have occurred regarding the way clubs finance themselves, the strategic decisions they make, and the circuits they are involved in all represent aspects that influence the capability of a club to perform. This ability to perform, described here as the competitive performance of esports clubs, is thoroughly developed and defined to clearly establish the metrics used and the factors at play when describing the competitive performance of esports clubs. This paper is the result of in-depth research and qualitative interviews, producing new insights on the state of esports clubs and the esports industry as a whole.
