- Abstract
- The Israeli-Palestinian situation constitutes a major media object, often approached through the lens of conflict, but colonization, as a structural process, receives relatively little coverage. This thesis examines how its coverage was constructed between 2006 and 2024 in two leading French-language Belgian daily newspapers, La Libre Belgique and Le Soir. The research combines two approaches: a lexicometric analysis of the entire corpus, comprising 2.484 articles, and a qualitative discourse analysis of twenty-two of them, divided into five comparative periods. This study shows that the two newspapers differ more in the prominence they give to the subject than in the way they cover it. Nevertheless, they share one constant: the weak legal characterization of colonization, alongside a recent erosion, as current events in 2023-2024 diluted the structural process within the narrative of violent events.
