- Abstract
- This thesis examines how Exmar Offshore Company, a Houston-based engineering and design consultancy company owned by EXMAR NV, can improve the reliability of its resource forecasting in a changing market. Historically recognized for his agility and technical excellence, the company grew significantly and now faces more rigorous planning, reporting, and governance demands from new type of clients who are the major player of the industry. Combining a literature review, field observations during a six-month internship, and six interviews, the study identifies key challenges, including fragmented tools, reliance on individual expertise, overload of technical managers, and limited use of lessons learned. By using a systemic analysis of root causes, the thesis proposes gradual changes including a better integration of tools, the build of a project knowledge base, clarifying roles, and adopting adaptive structuring. These recommendations strengthen forecasting accuracy without weaken Exmar’s agility, enhancing its competitiveness and resilience in the offshore sector which is highly influenced by digitalization, client expectations, and industry transformations.
