- Abstract
- This thesis explores the impact of the European Union's Erasmus+ program on youth organizations in French-speaking Belgium. It examines how EU policies influence the management of these organizations and their participation in European projects. French-speaking Belgian youth organizations, which are the cornerstones of implementing European initiatives, play a key role in strengthening citizen competencies and promoting active participation within society. Through rigorous analysis, the study reveals that larger organizations significantly benefit from the opportunities offered by Erasmus+, acquiring new skills in managing international projects and developing a network of transnational partnerships. However, the journey is not without its challenges. For smaller organizations, recruiting young people and navigating the administrative complexities of grants remains a major obstacle. Despite the clear benefits of Erasmus+, the study highlights persistent barriers, particularly in forming a strong European identity among young participants. This thesis calls for reflection on the coordination of national youth policies within the EU and the harmonization of European projects to maximize their complementarity and impact.
