Abstract
This master's thesis examines the extent to which financial due diligence (FDD) helps reduce information asymmetry between buyers and sellers in merger and acquisition transactions in the electricity sector. The study combines a literature review with the analysis of a real-world case study of an FDD conducted by Forvis Mazars on a renewable energy development company. The research adopts a mixed-methods approach, testing three theoretical hypotheses against empirical reality: the improvement of financial transparency through FDD, its ability to identify sector-specific risks, and the inadequacy of traditional financial analysis in the energy sector.
