Abstract

enThe atopic dermatitis, also called atopic eczema affects almost 20% of the European children. This chronic disease is caused by a genetic deficit of the skin barrier and can be treated by the daily application of emollients over the entire body and the application of dermocorticoids in case of inflammatory flare ups. The lack of knowledge on the dermocorticoids and its side effects are at the origin of the corticophobia. This fear of the topical corticoids is mainly responsible for the lack of compliance of the patients affected by atopic dermatitis. As for the other chronic diseases, the observance in the treatment of this disease is only 30%. This thesis reminds the importance of the treatment by the dermocorticoids and seeks to identify the factors at the origin of the corticophobia as well as the methods implemented to decrease it.
